The 4 Network of search engines
On this page
The 4 Network is the family of sites that share one search engine. Each site is a complete search engine focused on a subject: football, conservative news, a city, a kind of insurance, a faith. 4Search is the general one, with no single subject.
#Find the sites
The footer of every page has a section called The 4 Network. It lists the featured sites in rows, one row per subject, such as Sports, Cities, Politics & Society, Business & Finance, Shopping, Science & Tech, Arts & Entertainment, People & Pets, Health & Wellness and Faith & Religion. A heading above the rows counts them. A dot after a name marks the site you are on.
The 4 Network section of the footer lists featured sites by subject.
- 1Search, Company, Legal and Policies links
- 2Install buttons
- 3The 4 Network, by subject
- 4The site you are on
- 5Pick a colour theme
The footer shows the featured sites only. The network as a whole is larger than the list. Select a name to open that site; it opens as a separate website with its own address.
#What is the same on every site
- The engine. The tabs that search, the filters, the AI Overview and AI Mode, result cards and Full coverage work the same way everywhere.
- The layout. The black bar with Home, the colour theme button and Menu; the service tabs; the search box; the topics list; the front page; the footer.
- The Help Center. Every site shows this same Help Center, so you can keep reading without leaving the site you are on.
- Your privacy choices. Each site has the same Your Privacy Choices page and the same optional choices for AI answers and saved lists.
- The colour themes. Hybrid, Light and Dark are available everywhere.
#What differs from site to site
- The subject and its topics. A football site lists football topics; 4Conservative lists politics and culture topics; 4Search lists broad areas such as Sports, Health and Business & Finance.
- The words and the look. Each site has its own logo, colors, tagline and introduction line. A site other than 4Search says it is part of the 4SEARCH network of topic specific search engines.
- The front page. Each home page shows the stories of its own subject.
- Which services are on. Finance, Politics, Predictions, Weather and Maps run on 4Search and 4Conservative. Shopping compares offers from many stores on 4Search only. See Which sites have which services.
4Football: its own tagline, a shorter row of tabs and a topics list about football.
- 1This site's own tagline
- 2A shorter row of tabs
- 3A line about the site and the network
- 4Topics for football
- The tagline is specific to football.
- The row of tabs has no Finance, Politics, Predictions, Weather or Maps.
- The line under the filters says what the site is for and that it is part of the network.
- The topics list holds football topics, such as the NFL teams and the draft.
4Conservative: a different tagline and colors, the full row of tabs and its own topics.
- 1This site's own tagline
- 2Finance, Politics and more are on here too
- 3Topics for this site
- The tagline is its own.
- This site has the full row, including Finance and Politics.
- The topics list is about politics and culture.
#Using more than one site
Your browser keeps settings separately for each web address. A colour theme you choose on one site, or a topic you follow, is therefore not carried to another site, and you set it again there. The search words you type are not carried over either.
#Common questions
Do I need a separate account for each site?
No. 4Search sites do not use accounts. Lists you choose to save stay in the browser you made them in.
Why does my favorite site not have Weather or Finance?
Those services run only on some sites. The tab row on each site shows exactly what that site offers.
How many sites are in the network?
The footer features dozens of them in subject groups, and the full network is larger. The footer's heading gives the number of featured sites.
Is the Help Center different on another site?
No. It is the same on every site.
